Long-term care & home health care

Plan for care before you need it

Most people want to get care at home if they ever need it. Medicare covers only limited, short-term skilled care. It doesn't pay for most long-term help with daily living. I'll show you the options for protecting your savings and your choices.

Ways to cover future care

I'll match the right option to your age, health, budget and what you want to protect.

Home health care coverage

Helps pay for aides, nursing visits and help with daily activities at home, so you can stay where you're comfortable.

Traditional long-term care

Coverage for care at home, in assisted living or in a nursing home, with benefits you choose up front.

Life insurance with care benefits

Hybrid policies that pay for care if you need it, or pay a death benefit to your family if you don't.

Short-term care

Affordable coverage for shorter stays and recovery, with simpler health questions.

Review my current policy

Got a premium increase letter? I'll explain your options, such as adjusting benefits to keep coverage affordable.

Annuities with care features

Some annuities can increase payments if you need long-term care. Worth a look if you have savings set aside.

Timing matters

The best time to plan is while you're healthy

Long-term care coverage is based on your health when you apply. Most people look into it in their 50s and 60s, when it's easier to qualify and premiums are lower.

Long-term care questions

Doesn't Medicare pay for long-term care?

Medicare covers short-term skilled nursing or home health care after certain conditions are met. It doesn't cover long-term custodial care, such as ongoing help with bathing, dressing or eating. That's the gap long-term care coverage fills.

What's the difference between home health care and long-term care?

Home health care is care delivered in your home. Long-term care is the broader term for ongoing help, wherever it's given: at home, in assisted living or in a nursing home. Many policies cover all three.

My long-term care premium went up. What can I do?

You have options, such as adjusting the daily benefit, benefit period or inflation option to keep the premium manageable. I'll walk through your company's choices with you.

What if I'm already in my 70s?

There are still options, such as short-term care and hybrid policies. A quick review will show you exactly what's available to you.
